Memory-Scape
From the terminology “soundscape”, a memory-scape is the creation of experience in particular memory and compositions created using methods of garment construction.
Draping for fashion design is the process of positioning and pinning fabric on a dress form (mannequin) to develop the structure of a garment design. The mannequin itself reminds me of school life, playing around with creative ideas to build the structure for the fashion show. The memory of my school life is all absorbed in the mannequin as a playground.
My “playground” is also expressed in another level of space interpreted in different forms of materials in unmonumental structure to represent the meaning of play - fun, excitement, memory - in connection with draping on the mannequin. Inspired by 'Still Life: An Allegory of the Vanities of Human Life' by Harmen Steenwyck, each element represent youth, nostalgic, and fun memory presenting in interaction with draping on the dress form.
Lastly, a video of a bonfire gives not only the energy but also gives a moment to fall into reminiscences.
